About

Hi, I am Alina Alvarez, a multidisciplinary design and communications specialist with a strong emphasis in creating brands, communication materials, experiences, products, and services for social impact. 

I have worked independently for the past 10 years for the Private, Public and International sectors. As a Designer, I’ve mostly engaged as a Creative and Art Director for branding projects, or as a Brand Manager for design execution projects. As a Design Strategist I provide consulting for for product and services, engaging in several stages of the projects from user research, prototyping, ideation, and design. I design solutions that touch the user experience, the business model, the service experience, the product design, and the user experience. In my work, I utilize a number of methods and frameworks known in the strategic design field such as design thinking, human-centered design, innovation frameworks, value proposition design, business modeling, brand value, brand strategy, experience concept, experience design, service blueprinting, customer journey mapping, and many other. 

Some clients include the World Bank, Organization of American States, the Pan American Health Organization, infoDev, YLabs, Victoria 147, USAID and Gates-funded projects, LATAM Airlines, and startups. Some industries I have worked in are: education, entrepreneurship, innovation, international development, healthcare, real estate, aviation, and more.

I am open for freelance and consulting projects on a per-project basis. I’m available for travel, remote, and in-person projects. I’m currently based between Mexico City and the Bay Area.
